Coke and Mentos? Yeah, I *HAD* to try it.

I think it’s important to introduce your kids to new things. That’s why I stopped by the grocery store on the way home last night and picked up a 2-liter of diet coke and a pack of mentos. It was all in the name of science! Yeah, that’s the story and I’m sticking to it! :-)

I had heard the stories, drop some mentos in a bottle of diet coke and it shoots all over the place. I had even seen a couple of videos online. Damnit, I still *HAD* to try it myself.

And… It’s really freakin’ cool. In a scientific way of course!

Open the bottle, drop in the mentos and jump back. I had a 4 foot geyser that last maybe 5 seconds. Thankfully my vampire neighbor was available to document the event. I think he captured the moment very well!

Hmmm, I wonder if there’s a way to power a car with the stuff…

Check out these guys, they had way too much time on their hands:

Hung Like a Horse.

I called a customer today that had started a online order but for some reason never completed the order. I wanted to make sure that there were no technical problems and to see if she wanted to complete the order over the phone. I don’t like to miss out on a sale.

She told me the problem was on her end, and was being fixed. We were chatting along and I was just about to ask if we could go ahead and take her payment over the phone and still get her product out, when all of the sudden she interupted me and said in a very urgent tone:
“I’ve gotta horse hung upside down, I gotta go.”

click.

That wins for the strangest good-bye that I’ve ever had.

Watch Spam.

I was flipping through my email spam folder to see if any messages were incorrectly labeled as spam. The subject line of one of the spam messages caught my attention.

“Colon Relief”

So, who in the world would actually click on this if it ended up in their inbox??

Man, I’m sick of Spam

If anybody is looking for a good spam client, check out Cloudmark. It’s been a pretty good solution.

I just heard a Big Boom.

It sounded like a canon went off somewhere nearby.

You Can’t Eat the Props!

It’s the first time I’ve ever said it. On Friday, I was taking some shots of cinnamon rolls when Lori dropped Charlie off.

He was being pretty good, letting me finish off what I was doing, when he started trying to get past the lights and camera. I asked him what he was doing, I had already told him he had to stay away from the lights and tripod.

He looked at me and pointed to the cinnamon rolls, “I want one of those.”

My answer - “You can’t have one.” - didn’t really go over so well.

I have to admit, they smelled really good and they weren’t even cooked yet.

After his temper tantrum subsided, I had to explain, “You can’t eat the props, I won’t be able to take pictures of them!”

Here’s the picture. They really do look pretty good!

New Toy!

We just bought a Canon EOS Mark II N this past week along with all of the studio fixins’.

Unfortunately, I think I’ve spoiled myself, my Kodak DX7590 seems like a disposable now.

Here are a couple of the first ‘test’ pictures I snapped.
